Una din cele mai importante activităţi din cadrul igienei dentare este periajul dentar. Pentru ca acesta să fie cât mai eficient, este foarte important să cunoaştem şi să utilizam corect tehnica de periaj.
O metodă de periaj poate fi considerată bună dacă îndeplineşte următoarele cerinţe:
– să igienizeze foarte bine toate suprafeţele extraalveolare ale dinţilor naturali şi artificiali
– să nu lezeze ţesuturile dure dentare naturale şi nici pe cele moi
– să fie simplă, uşor de însuşit şi de practicat de către orice persoană
– să fie executată sistematic, pe grupe de dinţi, vestibular, oral şi ocluzal
– un periaj dentar eficient trebuie să suprime placa bacteriană, să stimuleze keratinizarea gingiei şi să activeze circulaţia locală prin intermediul masajului gingival, fără a leza însă ţesuturile.
CE TEHNICA DE PERIAJ ALEGEM?
În cadrul literaturii de specialitate au fost descrise, până la ora actuală, peste 30 de metode şi tehnici de periaj, fiecare cu pretenţia de a avea cel mai bun efect de igienizare. Tehnicile uzuale cunoscute, dacă sunt corect efectuate, asigură un oarecare grad de igienizare a dinţilor naturali sau artificiali, însă nu prezintă o eficienţă ideală.
- Periajul orizontal nu este eficient în spaţiile interdentare şi este agresiv pentru ţesuturile moi, determinând retracţie gingivală şi abrazie cervicală la dinţii neacoperiţi cu coroane de înveliş.
- Periajul circular, deşi este uşor de însuşit, nu igienizează suficient feţele aproximale şi nu asigură un masaj gingival corespunzător.
- Periajul vertical, cel mai corespunzător în privinţa igienei, nu igienizează suficient de bine suprafeţele cervicale, la nivelul joncţiunii gingivo-dentare, şi nici zonele profunde ale feţelor.
